Chubby Chasing
So last night I got an interesting text in which the integrity of Paul Rubens depiction of women was question. In it I was asked if the rumor was true that Rubens used men instead of women because it was innappropriate to portray the female body in the nude. As scandalous and yet plausible that is, I merely show it as false. Recently I wrote on the elevation that artist received and the exceptions they were given. Just like my previous post on the Four Humours, artist were known as the melancholic and thus they would exert behavior and given permission to do things others werent allowed. Looking and portraying women in the nude was one of them. Again Peter Paul Rubens was just Art History’s Most Notorious Chubby Chaser.
