Pablo Picasso’s Guernica, painted after the bombing of the eponymous town in Spain.
There is a story that a Nazi officer visited Picasso’s studio in Paris when France was occupied and saw the painting, asking “did you do this?” Picasso replied “No, you did.” (I’ve seen this reported in many different ways, I don’t know which one is true).
